Ageing
As the years pass I have never considered advancing age to be an issue. I have been fortunate that physical complications have not been debilitating. They have left their calling cards and learning to live with them has been challenging. However, I have found that by keeping a positive outlook and keeping busy with life are transcendent. Too many of us get mired in concern for ourselves; our health, our financial well being, our future days, and the like. My experience has been that it is important to take care of oneself while not obsessing on the "what ifs" of living. What is, is. We need to do all that we can to preserve a comfortable existence, but to exercise trust and hope for the rest.
I have encountered, during the course of life, countless personal "miracles" and other occurrences that have led me to conclude that there is a caring supreme being upon who I can depend. There have been far too many unexplained "coincidental" courses along life's pathways that I have experienced to believe otherwise.
My conclusion is that immersion in myself is destructive. Happiness and fulfillment are the result of opening myself to the needs of and concerns of the world around me. I mean this in a universal way, not necessarily that I become immersed in the misfortune of all individuals, but that I keep aware of ways that I might be able to assist, to the best of my ability, those of whom I become aware..
