October 16, 2014
The day dawned with the sky overcast, at a mild temperature. Ken decided to take the day off from work as he had undergone minor dermatological procedures yesterday and he was concerned that the activity within his job performance would aggravate the procedure sites. Also, in that he had initiated an insurance claim for replacement of his cell phone that had recently gone through a wash cycle while in the pocket of his laundered work pants, the replacement phone was due to arrive today. He would then need time to spend with Verizon to reset the device. Therefore, in that my workday starts at noon, this week, we enjoyed a leisurely morning complete with a french-toast breakfast that he prepared. The phone was delivered shortly before I left.
Rain started to fall shortly after the beginning of my shift. During recent weeks the occupancy at the motel has been light. There are very few guests scheduled to check in today, but we have had a few walk-ins. Phone calls for weekend room availability and reservations made for the few remaining weekends of the month have occupied a significant amount of my time.
